ALPHABET DANGLES are plastic prizes from the 1950s.
They are marked "C.J.C.O."
on the back and come in various colors.
Red and yellow are significantly
common colors.
Other colors such as green,
blue, and the translucent colors of amber,
cobalt, and ruby can be found in most collections, but not nearly as frequently
as the common red and yellow.
Some of the more difficult colors to find in any quantity include the pastel
or baby colors of pink and blue, and a pale
yellow color some collectors call "white."
I find the subject of color
distribution in this set to be a grand part of this hobby.
When I originally started
my study, I made the statement that there is a finite set of colors in
ALPHABET DANGLES.
For the most part, that is
still true. Any of the colors
I have seen that do not fit into my original group of colors identified for
this set have ended up being mixtures of the normal colors in what I call
mottled or marblized colors.
The one exception is that there is a color that is gold which I have not
added to my collection yet.
