I thought I would share my circa 1914 Cracker Jack Trolley sign that I had framed. I had been looking for one for awhile and was luck to stumble across this one.

Wow, David. What a beautiful sign. And so nicely framed as well. Looks as though it has a perfect place to be hung. In your home? From what year is this sign? Thank you for sharing a wonderful bit of CJ history with us.

Hello David - I have a sign identical to yours which I have had for about 20 years or more. At that time a New York dealer moved to California and she put up four of these signs for sale. I have never heard of any more until your posting.

I was intrigued by the green and aqua colors used on it and always said it was "before they got their act together"I alwasys thought they got their act together when they put Jack on the box around 1916 or 17.
It's a great sign and one of my favorites.

Thank you for the kind words. Here is a scan of the sign before I had it framed.

My research shows that the sign was from the 1914-1918 time period. Since the sign shows Brooklyn as a factory location, I would place the beginning date at 1914. My understanding is that this style Trolley sign was last used in 1918. A new style box was introduced in 1919.

Yes, I would agree! Putting our favorite sailor boy on the box of CJ was a major move and a good one. Three cheers for Sailor Jack!
