Wow! What a great photo, Alex. The building looks a bit run down but the Cracker Jack lettering sure appears to be in good shape. From what material is the lettering made? :confused: Do you know, Alex? It doesn't appear to be painted on.

It looks like the windows are open. Did those poor suckers not have AC? Chicago summers can be pretty uncomfortable.

Hi Luke, I don't know if you missed the CJCA Convention where a former Cracker Jack employee in the 1970's gave the banquet speech and told stories about working at the plant. She said there were years when they had a terrible time filling the shifts; the production area was unbearably hot due to the poppers emitting so much heat and the area was not air conditioned. They resorted to recruiting people off the street, who would only last a few days. She told some other great stories, probably best not posted on-line.

Yes, Luke. You did miss some good stories from the speaker at that convention. And like Cyndy said, some cannot be disclosed online. :gossip:
