World Series Prediction

Post by Luke »

Nothing goes better with baseball than Cracker Jack. So for my World Series prediction, I'm using my Cracker Jack Major League Baseball sticker collection. My theory, weak as it is, is that whichever team I have the most stickers of, will win.

I have over 400 MLB stickers that I sorted through, and the current total is...
Tampa Bay Rays: 4
Philadelphia Phillies: 0

So it looks like the Rays should be the World Champions in 4 games.

Just two little problems...
1) I have over 40 Arizona Diamondback stickers, and they're not in the World Series. (So much for my brilliant theory)
2) So far, the Phillies are ahead in the first game.

What's your prediction???

Ellen Degeneris had a funny reference to Cracker Jack in her monologue today. She is not a baseball fan and was talking about what she did every inning of a game. In one inning she said she ate a box of Cracker Jack, felt something hard in the bottom of the box and thought it wa her prize. She said it turned out to be her filling!

Cute story, Harriet. Wish I would have seen that. Thank you for sharing.

Luke, based on your method of deciding the victors of the World Series, I shall also have to predict a win for the Rays. I have two Phillies stickers and four Tampa Bay Rays. The team for which I have the most stickers is the Arizona Diamond Backs. I have twenty-one of those. My total number of stickers is right around 400 as well.

Harriet, Thanks for the tip Harriet, Janet TiVo's the Ellen show, so I'll look for it. I could always use a good laugh. :)

Diane, I think the prize maker is a Diamondback fan, with so many of their stickers being in the boxes of Cracker Jack.

If anyone else has collected MLB stickers, feel free to post how many you have of the Rays, and Phillies. The World Series isn't over yet!

Hi All,

Loved the Ellen story. I have no MLB stickers, but I TOTALLY agree with the idea that whoever has been doing Baseball prizes is an Arizona Diamondbacks fan since that the the team I had the most little plastic baseball cap whistles of at the time that series came out!

The Philadelphia Phillies won the World Series. Somehow my foolproof, scientific prediction came out badly. Perhaps there's a future for me in weather forecasting. ;) Let's see how my theory works next year.

Oh well, you can't win them all. You gave it the ole college try, Luke. I was never much for science anyway. If you have gone into the "weather man" business, thanks, for the beautiful day you sent us here in the Detroit area. The sun is shining, the sky is blue and the fall colors are impressive.
