If you where to ask my wife, she'd say too many, whereas I'd say too few. Honestly I don't remember the answer, and it was only a year ago that I was at the factory and this topic was brought up. Hopefully someone with a better memory than mine will give us the answer.

Google says 9, I think that is about right. I was on a tour at the 3rd? Convention, of the factory at that time and I think that was what they said. They also made a big deal about peanut type. I think it was Spanish peanuts, but again, I'm not sure.

If my foggy memory serves me right, it's done by weight, not by the number of peanuts.

I suggest everyone go out an buy a box or two of Cracker Jack, count the peanuts, and report back here. I'm off to the store, I'll report my findings later tonight.

I bought 3 boxes of Cracker Jack last night to do a little peanut counting. Box one had 7 peanuts, box two had 6 peanuts, box three has 7 peanuts.

Hello All,
I remember a presentation by the Baumgardners and believe the exact amount was 6. It was done by count, not by weight. I will have to troll past Insiders to see if I can find any article on it.

By the by - I don't like the peanuts!

"Peanuts in box" - is that the prequel to "Snakes on a Plane"??????

Hi Everyone,

I can't believe I am joining the peanut debate. Here it is a Saturday night and I am spending my time counting peanuts in a box of Cracker Jack. How sad. :( I really do need to get a life. But here it goes. First of all, if my memory serves me correctly, and that is debatable right there, Borden promised 9 peanuts in every box of CJ. When FRITO-LAY took over I thought we were told that the peanuts were by weight rather than number.

And now for the number of peanuts in the 3 pack of boxes I purchased earlier today:

Box 1: 12 peanuts and one was not candy coated.
How did that happen?

Box 2: 7 1/2 peanuts

Box 3: 9 peanuts

OK, now that I have put in my 2 peanuts worth of input, I guess I'll go watch old reruns of "I Love LUcy."

Happy Saturday night all,

Diane

Perhaps I misremembered it then, and it's by number and not by weight. Either way, more research is needed, I'm off to the store for more Cracker Jack.

I agree with Larry that somewhere along the way we were told it ws 6 peanuts per box.
However way back when the boxes were 1 1/4 oz instead of 1 oz there were supposed to be 15 per box!

Hello all you I-have-nothing-better-to-do-than-to-count-peanuts=in-CJ-boxes,

I went thru the Baumgardner's presentation listed in The Insider, but did not find anything definitive. However, I do remember (idiot-savant: remember # of peanuts, forget anniversary) one of the questions they most received about CJ was the number of peanuts in each box. Their reply was a minimum of 6 (And no I don't know if that was 6 whole peanuts or combination of halves or . . . whatever).

I'll keep looking for more (too late for the anniversary).
