The Chautauqua in Sapulpa, Oklahoma

According to The Sapulpa Light, chautauqua came to town on July 6, 1907, and continued for six days until July 12. The attractions included Kilties famous Candian band on Saturday afternoon and evening. On July 8, Gov. Bob Taylor spoke at 8:30 p.m. giving a speech called "Castles in the Air." The chautauqua was made available through the efforts of the Ladies Literary Club and The Business Men's League. J. F. Egan was the manager, and his greatest excitement came from when he got into a "row" with police because he would not admit them without paying for tickets.
