Hi all,
I received an e-mail from a gentleman in Texas. He is looking for information about a Cracker Jack commercial. Does anyone know more about this? Thanks-NANCY
See below:
I am looking for the details, verbage, etc. of a 1960s commercial for Cracker Jacks that involved Jack Guilford as one of three witches brewing around a kettle and the output of their ingredients is "Cracker Jacks from an ancient family recipe".

I remember seeing Jack Gilford in many great Cracker Jack commercials, but I don't remember that one. I'm off to explore the web to see what I can discover.

Hey CJ-

I remember this witch commercial from when I was a kid. Jack G. was dressed as a witch with two others on opposite sides of him. He was stirring a large cauldron with dry ice "fog" flowing over the edges. He brings the spoon he's stirring with to his lips for a taste test and ponders what it needs. One witch to his side suggests questioningly, "The left ear of a giant?" and then the other witch asks, "The right ear?" Then the one witch asks, "The knee of an eel?" and the other witch asks, "A terrible nice?" Then Jack G. says, "No no no... ...a large, red eyed, no nosed, nothing," as he uses the thumb and forefinger of his other hand to pluck it out of thin air in front of him and slightly above his head. He throws this invisible "nothing" into the cauldron as the other two witches watch and then the "batch" explodes, which is Cracker Jacks showering all over the place. I loved this commercial as a little kid and would love for someone to find it and post it so I can see it again. I hope this rings a bell for you and everyone else who has wondered about this fun commercial.

Hi there Remembering,

I sure wish I could remember that commercial but I'm afraid I don't. :conf: Maybe it was before my time but I'm as old as dirt so I doubt that. It sounds like a great commercial and appropriate for this time of year. :{} About what year would it have been televised? :???:

Thank you for contacting us. :humbsip:

The commercial was from the mid 1960's. I was just wondering if the good people from Cracker Jacks, past or present, could help us out. Anyone...?

Like the others who've responded, this commercial sounds terrific to me but not one I can remember. As far as someone from "Cracker Jacks" being able to help...in my opinion...that's unlikely. The Cracker Jack company sold to Borden in 1964 (guys, correct me if my dates are wrong) and Borden sold to Frito-Lay around 1998. Since about 2004 the brand has not had much attention. Frito-Lay changes brand managers every couple of years so there isn't much continuity of new history let alone the old. It is very sad...especially for those of us who love the brand.
