Oh yeah, I'm ice cream from way back. In high school I worked at the Tastee Freeze for two years and then I worked at the Dairy Queen my first year of college. I was a pro at making the curl on the top of a Dairy Queen cone. Do you remember the Dairy Queen spoons that had a Dairy Queen cone on the end of the handle? No sporks though.

Thank you for the spork history, Luke. (All of this talk has made me hungry. There are no Tastee Freezes or Dairy Queens here in Petoskey. Too bad. I sure could use a dilly bar. )

My Grandmother's brother owned a Tastee Freeze. When I would visit him he would let us make our own ice cream creation in the kitchen. Imagine what a mess that was. He sold it in the late 70's. We do not have Tastee Freeze in the south so I don't know if they still exist. We have many Dairy Queens. I am trying to stick with just Cracker Jack prizes. I think I have 12 of the 32 cream colored Van B. nation prizes. The designs are really neat. I do not have any stand up C.J. prizes . I have 4 rockers. (dog, monkey, parrot and bear)

There's a Tastee Freez just 120 miles from you. Google maps says you can drive there in 2 1/2 hours. 1110 Boone Hill Road, Summerville SC, 29483. You could drive out there to look for Cracker Jack prizes in antique stores, then go for a taste of creamy goodness. :)

There are also other Cracker Jack rockers for you to collect. According to Cyndy, the bear below is part of a series of 48 rockers from the 1970's, which is the decade you like the most. You can read more about it here -> http://www.crackerjackcollectors.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=480 towards the bottom of the thread. I'd love to see a picture of the completed series, so if anyone has it and wants to share it, please do.

Diane, if I squint hard enough, I can almost see you through the glare on the window.

Yep that's me alright. I'm wearing my white uniform with my white shoes and a white apron. I have smudges of hot fudge, strawberries and whip cream down the front of my dress. I was never a very neat Tastee Freeze girl. Thanks for the memories and the laughs, Luke.

wow! I have never seen a tastee freeze in S.C. or Ga. Guess I should have googled it. I will have to check it out on my way to Charleston. My rocker bear is different from your picture. The bear is sitting up with one leg out. My rocker dog is the C.J. dog. (1950's) I have so much to learn. I have been collecting for a while , I just had a hard time finding prizes. I wish I found this site earlier. Everyone knows so much and they are nice and fun.

You could always open up a Tastee Freez franchise. I would myself, but I love ice cream so much that I'd eat all the profits.

Is this the bear you have? ...

Your bear rocker is adorable. I don't think I have ever seen that one.

When I worked at the Tastee Freeze, everyone told me I would get sick of their ice cream and never want to eat it again. NOT TRUE! I ate a hot fudge sundae every day I worked for two years and I still love them (unfortunately).
