14TH ANNUAL CJCA CONVENTION AT THE LAKESIDE INN
LOCATION: Lakeside Inn - Lakeside, Michigan

IMPORTANT TRAVEL INFORMATION – AIRPORT CONNECTION TO LAKESIDE

Those of you that are flying into Chicago O’Hare Airport will need to catch a bus to Michigan City, Indiana. There is a very convenient and reasonable service that leaves hourly from the airport. From Michigan City you will be shuttled to the Lakeside Inn (about 20 miles away) by CJCA volunteer drivers.

In order to organize this you need to do two things:
1) Go to the web sight listed below and book your bus ticket (round trip is cheapest).

http://www.coachusa.com/tristateunitedlimo/

ORIGIN:
State – ILLINOIS
City - CHICAGO OHARE AIRPORT

DESTINATION:
State - INDIANA
City – MICHIGAN CITY

2) Contact the Richter’s as to your arrival time in Michigan City so that someone can meet you and transport you to Lakeside.

waddytmr@sbcglobal.net

Theresa’s cell 773-343-1680

We’ll try to make up a schedule that will get you to your destination as soon as possible. We will need you to keep in touch with us, especially if there are changes (flight delays, etc), so we can make this plan as efficient as possible.

2009 CONVENTION UPDATE (5/6/2009)

Hello All, The buttons for the convention are made and ready to go to Michigan! We have 53 people signed up so far. If you are making “give-a-ways” I would suggest 65 maybe more if you would like to give some away at Roskam. The schedule mailed out was subject to change; we are adding another activity on Tuesday afternoon. The registration form for the 2009 CJCA Convention has been mailed out to the membership. Please send your completed membership to Theresa by May 15, 2009. If you are not a member and would like to attend this years convention and join in all the fun, a registration form is available on-line. (Registration Form) Only four rooms are available at The Lakeside Inn. The Gordon Inn, just one mile away is also available for reservations. All reservations are through the Lakeside Inn at 269.469.0600. Looking forward to a great time at Lakeside. Travel safely and we’ll see you in June. - NANCY

2009 CONVENTION UPDATE (4/4/2009)

Plans for the 2009 CJCA Convention are almost complete. I received the "OK" from the Roskam Baking Company in Grand Rapids, Michigan where Cracker Jack is currently being produced. We are scheduled to visit Roskam on Wednesday June 17, 2009. There are very excited for us to visit the facilities and share new information about the Cracker Jack product. I am working on the transportation.

Are you interested in designing some sort of Cracker Jack clothing? Start saving you empty Cracker Jack wrappers. Bring scissors, glue or tape to transform those empty CJ wrappers into sportswear, beachwear, eveningwear, or maybe underwear (well maybe not). We might even need to have a fashion show.

The convention registration form will be out this month.

See you in June - NANCY

2009 CONVENTION UPDATE (3/3/2009)

WOW - we are having an excellent response to this years convention. Thanks to all who have reserved a room at the Lakeside Inn. As of last week, 21/30 rooms have been reserved. There is still time to make your reservations at the 30% discount during the convention (June 16, 17, 18, 2009). A 20% discount is available for the dates before or after the convention. YOU MUST CALL THE LAKESIDE INN DIRECTLY (269.469.0600) TO RESERVE YOUR ROOM. Online reservations will not work for the CJCA convention dates.

Theresa and I met in mid February in Lakeside, MI to discuss the convention. The 2009 convention will be a takeoff/based on the 1924/1925 Company "Outings" that the Cracker Jack Company provided their employees located on the Rueckheim-Warren Estates in Lakeside Michigan. If anyone has any information to share about the Company "Outings" that we can add to the convention, please email me at Nancycjflash@aol.com.

I have been in contact with Frito Lay and the Account Manager from Roskam Baking Company in Grand Rapids, where Cracker Jack is currently being produced. We are working on organizing a tour of the factory. I will try to send out registration this month depending on the results of my telephone calls and e-mails.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in June at "The Outing"

NANCY
